WIPs — where to even start?

A member of our QP Facebook group asked this week how to get started tackling their WIP pile, and I can totally relate. It can seem so overwhelming to see projects piled up, or see the potential in our fabric stash but not know where to start.

Each time I am feeling overwhelmed with everything to choose from, I like to turn away from the pile and focus, instead, on my WIP list. I keep track of my WIPs on the Projects-at-a-Glance page in my Quilter's Planner so I can easily see what step is next for each project. Then the next time I am ready to sew, I can pick the project or step I am most interested in that day. Some days I am in the mood to bind, others days to piece. This helps narrow down my choices so I don't feel so overwhelmed.

But I know that it's been awhile since I have updated my Projects-at-a-Glance page with the latest stuff, so this week my first task is to update that. While I am at it I am also going to make a list of the projects that I've set aside fabric for but haven't started yet — I am thinking I'll use those projects as a reward for getting something done from the WIP pile.
